I know in the last few days of June, you received a LOT of emails from candidates and parties, most of them asking for money. So with the mid-year FEC deadline behind us, I wanted to slow down for a moment to say, thank you. Thank you for supporting me and other Democrats around the country — whether they’re running for president, or the House, or a state legislative race.

Thanks to your help, we closed out the month with a great surge of support from the grassroots. But as happy as I am about that, I’m even happier to say that you also answered the bell when I asked for your help to provide relief and legal aid to immigrant children and their families at the border. You raised almost $45,000 for organizations on the front line. That will make a real difference for children and families who deserve to be treated as human beings.

The next year and a half are going to be tough, no doubt about it. Just last weekend on his trip to Asia for the G-20 summit, Donald Trump demonstrated once again that he is most comfortable in the company of some of the world’s worst dictators, whether it was Kim Jong-un, Vladimir Putin, or Mohammad bin Salman. Seeing the president crack jokes about election interference or bemoan the free press while sitting next to Vladimir Putin will never seem normal, and we must make sure it is never considered okay.

The stakes in these coming elections, up and down the ballot, are so high. What we achieve will go a long way toward determining the sort of country we are — whether we’re going to reclaim our democracy, live up to our ideals, and build an economy that works for everyone — or whether we will continue to see our institutions, our values, and our security threatened by an irresponsible, unaccountable, Trump-led GOP. This is why it’s so important that we hold the House of Representatives, take back the Senate, and elect a Democrat to the White House in 2020.

Once again, I asked for your help, and you came through. I can’t thank you enough for staying strong and never giving up the fight. It’s an inspiration to me as I work to hold this out-of-control president accountable. Together, we can do this.
