Hello John,
Yesterday, we were reminded why what AFJ does matters so much for the American people. After the Trump Administration’s grievous announcement that they were pausing billions in grant and loan programs across the board, DC District Court Judge Loren AliKhan stayed the administration’s unconstitutional moves. Judge AliKhan was one of the scores of immensely qualified Biden judicial nominees that AFJ advocated for to be confirmed.

Every confirmation counts because our rights — and now our safety — are only as good as the people who interpret them. |
Nonprofits were also rocked to their core with this threat, as critical funding required for their programs was to be withheld. Our Bolder Advocacy team reacted immediately to produce a new podcast explaining the OMB memo, its impact, and potential litigation, with guidance on how nonprofits can respond. In the last 24 hours our Bolder Advocacy team had fielded multiple calls from concerned 501(c)3 organizations desperate for a knowledgeable voice in this chaos. AFJ is that voice – and has been for decades.

We’re fighting back! With this comprehensive plan that focuses on several key initiatives: Block harmful judicial nominations. Expand our efforts in state courts. Build a robust pipeline of judges who are dedicated to justice.
Enhance our movement’s capacity to defend against political attacks while ensuring that nonprofits can operate safely and effectively.

There’s more on the line now than we even imagined. Thank you for standing with AFJ. In solidarity, Keith Thirion & Betsy Miller Kittredge Interim Co-Presidents, Alliance for Justice
P.S. To all our recent donors– THANK YOU. We hope this email reminds you that TOGETHER we can hold the line!
