John,

While on the campaign trail, Donald Trump made a lot of grand promises to the American people. But less than two weeks into his administration, it's clear his number-one priority is using our democracy like his own personal playground, including:

• Immediately pulling the United States out the Paris climate agreement (again);
• Ordering the U.S. to leave the World Health Organization;
• Shutting down all federal offices of diversity, equity and inclusion;
• Denying the right to citizenship to the children of migrants (a judge has already blocked this as it goes directly against what is outlined in our Constitution); and,
• Pardoning nearly 1,600 of his supporters who took part in the deadly 2021 insurrection.

And this week, he ordered a "temporary" (and illegal!) freeze on all federal aid that he has already rescinded. These abrupt changes just lead to chaos and confusion directly impacting the communities who rely on these programs the most. We expected these attacks on our rights and democracy, John, but we can't lose faith.

I'm here to remind you that the Republican House majority is slim. They won the House and Senate by the skin of their teeth, with campaigns funded by some of the richest people in the world. And despite their majority, Democrats in the House and Senate are pushing back against harmful and misguided legislation that would take America backward.

I'm not backing down, and I am counting on your support heading into a challenging and tumultuous Congress. Before our first end-of-month deadline of the year, donate what you can to help Democrats hold these extremists accountable. » [link removed]

In solidarity,

Dwight
