The past week has been nothing short of intense, and overwhelming. As this current administration has wasted no time in sowing division and chaos through executive order, moving aggressively over its first few days to turn back the clock of history.. New Mexico is in a unique position as we have worked successfully and diligently to protect the most marginalized through policy. Policies that have been trailblazed by our Emerge NM alumni.
By holding our strong Democratic majorities in the Legislature last November, our state is well-positioned to take action at the state level to protect our freedoms and stand up to the Trump administration. We’re proud of the role Emerge New Mexico played in defending our majorities — dozens of our program’s alumni won their legislative races. Now, we’re focused on building the groundwork for future victories — and we need your help to fund our organizing efforts.

There’s no doubt that the first few days of this new administration have been discouraging for so many of us. The dehumanization of our relatives and loved ones is deeply disheartening, and we have an obligation to continue our work of building leaders and establishing trust in our communities. True political power is built upon sustained organizing at the local level, and that’s how we’ll navigate these times together.
