John, I’ll keep this brief.
The Trump administration has moved swiftly. First, they dissolved the Office of Gun Violence Prevention – a federal, cross-agency, public health approach to preventing gun violence and resulted in fewer untraceable ghost guns, the largest-ever decrease in homicide rates, and historic funding for community violence intervention programs.
Now they are beginning to roll back our hard fought policies .
Just yesterday, along with many other programs and agencies, the Trump administration attempted to freeze hundreds of thousands of dollars of our federal funding .
Funds that support:
* Community based violence intervention programs
* Implementation of extreme risk and other protection orders
* Public education about gun violence prevention
* Critical school safety programming
* Vital research into the impacts of gun violence
The impact will be even worse if these programs are ultimately, and likely illegally, terminated. While a judge has temporarily stayed Trump's attempt to rob our resources, we need to act just as swiftly to protect our crucial programs.
We can not sit idly by and let Trump make our schools and our communities less safe. Will you stand with us in this fight?
We need your help, now more than ever, to continue these programs [[link removed]] !
Please rush an emergency donation of even $5 of whatever you can afford today, lives count on it. Donate here [[link removed]] .
