Donald Trump's catastrophically stupid and highly unconstitutional executive order freezing all federal loans and grants while his administration conducts an across-the-board ideological review to wipe out any programs the MAGA cult leader doesn't like was thankfully blocked by a federal judge until at least Monday afternoon. Another court hearing is scheduled that morning to consider the issue. Trump's order capped the most chaotic day for the US government since the convicted felon returned to office, with uncertainty over a crucial financial lifeline causing panic and confusion among states, schools, and organizations that rely on trillions of dollars from Washington.

Over 15 Navajo Nation members swept up in Trump immigration raids
In perhaps the least surprising news of the day, Donald's fascist anti-immigrant crusade is ensnaring law-abiding American citizens left and right. Officials from the Navajo Nation are warning its members to carry personal identification that indicates they are citizens of the United States at all times following reports that more than a dozen Diné/Navajo people have been detained and questioned during Trump's immigration raids in Arizona and New Mexico since last Wednesday. The exact number of Diné/Navajo Nation members who have been detained is unknown, but there have been at least 15 documented cases of people being stopped at their homes or workplaces over the past week, CNN reported on Monday. These individuals were questioned or detained by federal law enforcement, who demanded they provide proof of citizenship. It’s conveniently unclear which federal agency or agencies detained these individuals. They have since been released, but the detentions have made residents worry that future Trump administration immigration raids could target them, despite their status as citizens.

Trump invites Netanyahu to be first foreign leader to visit White House
Trump has invited none other than Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be the first foreign leader to visit the White House, in a major concession to a US ally who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes. Donald's invitation spelled out his desire to "discuss how we can bring peace to Israel and its neighbors, and efforts to counter our shared adversaries." Just an idea, but maybe NOT killing thousands of civilians, flattening entire neighborhoods, and forcing millions of people into disease-ridden refugee camps would be a start... Trump has said he is "not confident" that the ceasefire reached in the waning days of the Biden administration will hold. Under the terms of the ceasefire, Israel and Hamas should soon commence negotiating a longer-term peace that many fear will fail and lead to a return to bloodshed following more than 15 months of fighting. More than 46,000 Palestinians and 1,700 Israelis have been killed since the brutal war began on October 7, 2023.

Medicaid website goes down after Trump orders spending freeze
The Medicaid website portal predictably went dark after President Trump ordered his temporary freeze on federal aid and grants Tuesday. State Medicaid programs use the online system to receive federal funding. Fear not! White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt tweeted that the administration was aware of the shutdown and the portal did, in fact, return online later that day after triggering widespread panic and confusion. Donald and his MAGA goons are playing with fire in their quest to tear America down to its studs and rebuild it in the cult leader's nightmarish image, and we can expect more self-inflicted havoc and mayhem to follow as they hack their way through the shit-jungle of their own making.

Trump signs an order restricting gender-affirming care for minors
The chaos continues. The MAGA cult leader signed an executive order yesterday that seeks to end gender-affirming medical treatments for children and teenagers under the age of 19. The medical care the president is referring to includes the use of puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries. While figures may vary, it is reliably estimated that approximately 0.6% of the US population identifies as transgender. Like so many other medical issues, this too should be left to parents, their children, and the medical professionals they consult in their quest to provide the best care for the individuals in question.

Man arrested near US Capitol allegedly intended to kill prominent Republicans
A man arrested in Washington, DC, near the US Capitol building on Monday with a folding knife and two molotov cocktails intended to kill GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson and newly sworn-in Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth, federal prosecutors have alleged in court filings. Ryan English of Massachusetts turned himself in to police near an entrance to the Capitol. A search of English, prosecutors allege, showed he had two “destructive devices” on him in the form of 50ml bottles containing vodka with torn clothing stuffed into them. He was also carrying a folding knife. English reportedly told authorities that he had left his Massachusetts home intending to kill Johnson and Hegseth. English allegedly added he also wanted to kill Scott Bessent, Trump’s new Treasury secretary. English faces charges of unlawfully transporting a firearm as well as bringing an incendiary device to the Capitol. If only he'd threatened Democrats he just might've been in line for a Trump pardon.
