John,
First, Trump’s Office of Management and Budget sent a memo to agencies halting federal grants and loans, effective yesterday evening.
Then , at the last minute, a judge granted a stay to pause the funding freeze – just until next Monday.
Now, our SEEC climate champions are working around the clock to minimize the disruptions to the critical environmental work on the local, state, and federal levels, all of which hangs in the balance.
SEEC members are up against Republican majorities in the House and Senate, as well as a conservative court and a pro-fossil fuel President in the White House. This is when they need you to have their backs the most – can they count on your support right now? [[link removed]]
Yes! → [[link removed]]The looming funding freeze will take billions of dollars out of the economy, increasing costs for everyday Americans. What’s more, it wreaks havoc upon ongoing and upcoming environmental work, including:
* EPA grants supporting efforts to tackle air pollution and repair water systems
* Federal programs to promote safe drinking water
* Grants to fund testing for lead in schools and ensure water treatment plants are resilient against extreme storms
* Department of Energy subsidies for clean energy
* Regional Conservation Partnership Program projects such as small-scale solar and wind energy grants for farmers and small businesses
* The Forest Service’s work to reduce the risk of wildfires
And that’s just to name a few, John. Make no mistake: this administration is threatening to upend the hard-fought wins of the environmental movement – not just from the past year, or the past administration, but the past decades.
It is times like these when we are especially grateful for our SEEC members, who have dedicated themselves to not just taking on Trump’s anti-climate agenda, but also to advancing the fight for a greener future. They are our climate’s safeguard against the worst excesses of this administration – will you support their work today with a donation? [[link removed]]

Thanks to your help in 2024, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 119th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand.
