It could easily get into the food supply and is always fatal

Dagny has written about Chronic Wasting Disease, also known as Zombie
Deer Disease, before. The prion that causes it is virtually impossible
to destroy with fire, intense heat, or chemicals.

After a large herd was found to be suffering from the disease and
destroyed the Canadian government has issued a stark warning about
Chronic Wasting Disease (also called Zombie Deer Disease) entering the
human food supply through infected venison.

This disease is always fatal when contracted although in humans it can
take years to show up. There are a few cases of this disease affecting
humans and they'll make you believe the zombie apocalypse is actually
possible.

This disease freaks me out far more than Ebola. I wouldn't be surprised
if it isn't "the biggie" that depopulates humanity.
