My name is Dr. Amy Acton and I’m announcing my campaign for Governor of Ohio.

I’m a mother, grandmother, preventative medicine and preventative medicine doctor, and a Youngstown native.

I’ve spent almost my entire life in Ohio. I grew up moving from place to place, often not knowing where we would sleep or if my brother and I would eat dinner that night. I worked hard to put myself through college and medical school before serving as the Director of the Department of Health.

Unlike most of our leaders, I don’t believe the answer to fixing our state is giving politicians more power — the answer is giving hardworking families more freedom.

Our families deserve better than political games and self-serving politicians that stand in the way of making real change for Ohioans.

John, when Ohio’s Republican Governor Mike DeWine asked me to serve in his administration as the Director of the Ohio Department of Public Health in 2019, I had no idea what was coming.

I don’t always agree with Governor DeWine, but I put partisanship aside and we worked together to tackle the opioid crisis, weather the pandemic, and save lives. That’s because the problems we face don’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican. They just need fixing.

And that’s exactly how I plan to serve as Governor. I’ll fight to lower costs, make our communities safer and more business friendly, and give power back to the people…not politicians.
