Valley of the Sun United Way Reflects on the Last Year of Impact

For nearly a century, Valley of the Sun United Way has collaborated with local businesses, nonprofits, schools, government entities and thought leaders to co-create solutions for our community's most pressing challenges.

We convene partners to both address immediate needs and work toward long-term solutions. Together, we're working towards a future where every person in our community can thrive. There is TREMENDOUS impact happening when we work together.

We're pleased to share a community impact reel showcasing our work over the past year, in conjunction with the release of our latest MC2026 Scorecard: 2024 Annual Report. Our MC2026 plan for Mighty Change is designed to measurably support our communities in key areas like Education, Workforce Development, Health and Housing & Homelessness.

Thanks to your support, we're significantly impacting the lives of individuals and families in Maricopa County.

Reducing Food Insecurity Takes a Multifaceted Approach

Food insecurity has surged in the U.S., reaching its highest level since 2014. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), 1 in 5 children and 1 in 7 individuals do not know where their next meal will come from.

This is contributed by increased costs of food due to inflation and the end of pandemic-related funding. Valley of the Sun United Way is leading efforts with a variety of community partners to address these challenges, the root causes of food insecurity, and ultimately, to support the development of healthy communities.

A New Look for United Way

You may notice this newsletter looks a little different than some of the materials you’ve seen from Valley of the Sun United Way in the past.

In 2024, United Way Worldwide refreshed its brand to ensure the relevance and sustainability of one of the world’s oldest and largest charities for its next century of impact. Valley of the Sun United Way is following suit and will continue unveiling its new look as the year goes along in advance of our 100th anniversary.
