We are one full week into the Trump administration and they have already caused a massive, nationwide panic around a memo that calls for freezing all federal grants, loans, and financial assistance.

A lot of ink has already been spilled on potential targets of this freeze — which could affect as much as $3 trillion in government assistance and millions of Americans — but at VoteVets, we narrow our scope.

Here’s a list of VA programs that the Trump administration has put on the chopping block:

• Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program
• VA Homeless Providers Grants and Per Diem Programs
• VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program
• Veteran and Spouse Transitional Assistance Grant Program
• Legal Services for Veterans Grant Programs
• State Veterans Home Care
• Payments to States for Programs to Promote the Hiring and Retention of Nurses at State Veterans Homes
• Suicide Mortality Review Cooperative Agreements
• Veterans Cemetery Grants Program

Within that list are programs that provide grants to organizations that work to study and prevent Veteran suicides, provide housing for homeless Veterans, fund health care for Veterans, and maintain cemeteries for Veterans — and that list is not exhaustive.

There’s no DEI here. There’s no communist, marxist conspiracy. These are programs that support the men and women who wore our nation’s uniform, and if their funding dries up these services disappear.

It’s absolute f***ing chaos, and it’s all so Trump can grab more power, subvert the Constitution, destroy our democracy — and cover the cost of a tax cut for his billionaire buddies while he’s at it.

Not on our watch. Lawsuits are rising up all over the country, and Democrats are fighting back in Congress.
