Donald Trump just ordered every federal agency to stop all grants and loans today.

This could impact trillions of dollars in funding for local police and fire departments, the Veterans Crisis Line, disaster relief, our hospitals, and more. It even blocks funding to pay teachers, to continue lifesaving medical research, to provide mental health services, and to house homeless veterans.

John, this touches every single person you know. If this funding freeze is not reversed, local governments will have to raise taxes and costs will rise across the country. It’s a dangerous and reckless move that will hurt all of us. It's unacceptable. Full stop.

I go to Congress every single day to fight for the people I represent and to make sure that their government is working for them.

That’s why I proposed Congress allocate more funds to ensure veterans get their care and benefits. It’s why I brought home $750,000 in federal funding to help our volunteer firefighters. It’s why I secured more than $1 million through my federal community project funding for public safety. And it’s why I supported the $3 million federal investment in Early Head Start at the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center in Pittsburgh to support kids and provide the childcare parents depend on.

Donald Trump’s federal funding freeze attacks funding like that.

This is a reckless funding freeze and it’s a betrayal to hardworking American families. It will do nothing to lower costs and is probably going to make life even more of a ripoff. I am going to fight hard to protect our community and push Donald Trump to reverse this.
