There’s an important special election happening in Minnesota today, and here’s what you need to know:

Right now, the state senate is evenly split between Democrats and Republicans. This election for the 60th district will determine control of the chamber — and could have important implications for future electoral maps in Minnesota.

The NDRC has officially endorsed Doron Clark in this race — a community organizer who grew up on a small Minnesota farm and is committed to continuing the pro-democracy work of Minnesota’s recent Democratic-led state legislature and governorship.

Winning races like this special election is essential to advancing our work for fair maps across the country. With only hours to go in this critical vote in Minnesota, will you chip in right now to help end gerrymandering and elect Democracy Defenders across the country? [[link removed]]

In 2022, just 321 votes flipped control of the Minnesota State Senate to a one-seat Democratic majority and created a blue trifecta with the state house and governorship. This Democratic majority made important gains on paid and medical leave, workplace protections, voting rights, gun safety, and much more.

Now we need to protect this progress and make sure Minnesota can be a stronghold for the pro-democracy movement.

During his campaign, Doron Clark has advocated for improving education, funding school lunches, and addressing what he sees as Minnesota’s “housing emergency.” We are confident that if elected, Doron Clark will be the pro-democracy champion that Minnesotans deserve — and will continue to strengthen our movement for fair maps nationwide.

Let’s send a powerful message before the polls close for the special election for the Minnesota State Senate — chip in your contribution right now to ensure we keep fighting and winning for our democracy in critical races across the country. [[link removed]]

We’ll keep you posted on the election results. Stay tuned.
