We’ll continue to work for

more transparent, accountable politics

Elon Musk, Donald Trump and Mark Zuckerberg

If you’ve kept a close eye on the news recently, you might be feeling pretty down about many of the things we hold dear here at mySociety: things like fair, accountable, transparent democracies.

Take your pick from the recent headlines: whether it’s Musk's interest in UK politics, Facebook's changes to their fact-checking programme, the Climate and Nature Bill being shelved or Trump withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement, it’s easy to feel powerless.

And that’s why our work is more needed than ever. If you’re looking for one tangible way you can push back against the threats to our democracy, please donate.

Need a little hope?

Here are a few of the ways we use your donations to make change, even in difficult times:

Pushing for truth

We’re empowering marginalised communities to use Freedom of Information to support their campaigns and advocacy, through intensive, informative training courses.

Our sessions are on YouTube as well, so everyone can benefit from them.

More accountability

We’re fostering better transparency and accountability around MPs’ external sources of income, with our WhoFundsThem project. Our trusty volunteers have been wading through data to make sure it's clearer and more accessible for everyone.

Empowering climate action

We’re publishing masses of data on climate action, so you can see what’s happening in your own area and across the UK — and more keeps coming.

It’s there for you to put to good use in your campaigns, or when talking to your councillors — on Local Intelligence Hub.

Sharing pro-democracy tech

This year’s TICTEC conference has a special focus on technology that supports democracy.

Attendees will learn from other pro-democracy projects from around the world, so that we can all run better, stronger, more effective services. Discover TICTeC here.

And that’s not all...

Here are the people behind everything that we do: the mySociety team.

Our ongoing projects include helping you contact your representatives; enabling you to easily keep track of your MP’s activities; empowering you to keep your neighbourhood in order; helping councils learn from one another on climate action; and (in progress) seeing how we can encourage collective action on heating efficiency.

If you’d like to learn more about using our projects to make change, sign up for our free email series, the mySociety Toolkit.

And if you’d like to help us do more, faster, please do consider a donation. It really helps.
Thank you!
