Friend, Senator Gary Peters announced his retirement from the U.S. Senate today.

As a dear friend, colleague, and constituent, I wanted to take a moment to honor and thank him for his lifetime of service to Michigan and our country.

From his leadership in the Rochester Hills City Council, to the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Navy, and the Senate, he has dedicated his life and career to making Michigan and the United States a better place for all.

His advocacy for our manufacturing and auto industry, commitment to protecting the homeland and the Great Lakes, and love for Michigan is an amazing legacy, and he will undoubtedly be missed on Capitol Hill.

Michigan was lucky to have such a compassionate, intelligent, and hardworking leader like him, and our economy and residents are all the better because of his leadership.
