John, we are officially one week into the Trump Presidency.
Friends and family have told me they feel helpless and powerless a lot in the past week.
My advice to them and to you is the same - if you don’t like the way the world is going, do something about it.
- Run for a local office and execute your values in your community.
- Attend a school board or city council meeting.
- Share information with your community about issues that matter to you.
- Take care of yourself because it’s a marathon, and we need you not just today, but for the next four years.
- Use your gifts. If you are a writer, write about the truth and what matters to you. If you are a gardener, grow food for your community. If there’s wiggle room in your budget, give to a cause you believe in.
I founded Speak Up PAC so I could directly support organizations and people who are doing the work we all believe in.
It’s been a tough week. But, I’ve found the best antidote to hopelessness is putting in the work.
If you are able, a contribution today to Speak Up PAC would help us do the work not just today, but over the next four years. Together, we can claim our power and be a thorn in the side of President Trump and Republicans at every step.
