I bet you didn’t think I’d be saying this again so soon, but happy Election Day!

We have two special elections today in Iowa. Democrats Mike Zimmer and Ritchie Kurtenbach are running to flip red seats blue in the state Senate and in Black Hawk County.

Even though we only had limited time to organize, IDP was prepared to boost both candidates thanks to your generous support.

In the past year, we’ve worked hard to build a sustainable movement. The organizing and fundraising we did months ago prepared us for today — and the fundraising we do today will prepare us for the future.

I know it seems far away, but 2026 is a big year for Iowa, and electing Democrats up and down the ballot won’t happen overnight. That’s why we’re taking action now.

We’re boosting Iowa Democrats’ names to voters, organizing odd year caucuses to gauge where Iowans stand, training county parties and volunteers across the state, and more.

2026 will be our year, but what we can accomplish in the coming months all comes down to your grassroots support.
