Dear John,
Maryland’s outdated HIV criminalization law unfairly targets people living with HIV. This law is based on stigma and misinformation, not science, and it’s time we end it for good. Last year, Maryland HIV advocates made incredible progress thanks to the leadership of Free State Justice and Delegate Kris Fair. We need you to take action to push it across the finish line this year! The first hearings are this week.
Why this matters:
- Repealing this law will reduce stigma and promote public health.
- It will encourage more people to get tested and access treatment without fear.
- It’s a step toward a more just and equitable Maryland for all.
Here’s how you can take action today:
-
Speak out! Let your legislators know you support repealing this harmful law by signing this action.
-
Spread the word! Share this with your network to raise awareness.
We’ve come so far, and with your voice, we’ll go even further. Let’s show Maryland—and the nation—that stigma has no place in our state.
Ready to make history? Let’s do this, together!
With gratitude,
Mo Shora
