John,
When I heard South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s comments during her confirmation hearing for Secretary of Homeland Security, I was alarmed.
She called the Department of Homeland Security’s work combatting election disinformation “mission drift.”
But let me tell you why that work is so important:
For years, DHS has provided crucial intelligence to election officials like me to combat the lies spread by foreign adversaries and other bad actors. They’ve helped ensure voters have accurate information and pushed back against those who seek to erode trust in our democracy.
If that mission is abandoned, disinformation could spread unchecked, emboldening those who want to undermine our elections.
John, I refuse to let that happen.
But I can’t do it alone. We need to raise $10,000 before our end-of-the-month fundraising deadline to ensure we have the resources to fight disinformation and protect the integrity of our elections. Will you please chip in $15 or more today to help us meet this critical goal?

This isn’t just about one nomination or one department—it’s about the future of our democracy. Together, we can stand up for the truth, push back against disinformation, and protect the freedom to vote.
Thank you for standing with me,
Steve
