DC Draino: Trump wants to abolish Federal income tax. “It’s time for the United States to return to the system that made us richer and more powerful than ever before… Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich foreign nations, we should be tariffing and taxing foreign nations to enrich our citizens” (X). Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent: As Treasury Secretary, I’m committed to eliminating income taxes, replacing them with a fair consumption tax, and adopting a gold-backed currency. We’ll erase debt, restore financial privacy, and unlock new technologies for a prosperous future. The golden age starts now (X).

Telegraph: Iran has ordered its proxy forces across the Middle East to exercise caution as the Islamic Republic fears an existential threat following Donald Trump’s return to the White House. Officials have told commanders of Iran-backed militias to avoid provocative actions that could escalate regional tensions. Commanders have also been instructed to maintain defensive positions while avoiding any actions that could be interpreted as aggressive by US forces or regional allies (Telegraph). Ed Morrissey: And that’s a direct response to the return of Trump and the unleashing of American military power. California Drops Case Against Two Journalists Who Exposed Planned Parenthood for Selling Fetal Body Parts

David Daleiden, founder of the Center for Medical Progress, and journalist Sandra Merritt, announced on Monday that the criminal cases against them have ended, with the California Attorney General’s office agreeing to a plea deal that includes no prison time or fines for the journalists. CMP’s videos showed Planned Parenthood executives ‘haggling’ with companies like StemExpress over the prices of organs and tissues taken from the preborn children its abortionists had killed. Some of those children were potentially born alive before their hearts were harvested (Live Action). Lila Rose: California is dropping ALL charges against pro-life journalists David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt who exposed Planned Parenthood selling baby body parts (X).

Knights of Columbus Poll Shows 67 Percent of Americans Support Abortion Limits
Catholic Vote: The Knights of Columbus joined pro-life supporters from across the nation in Washington, D.C., Jan. 24 for the 52nd annual March for Life. The organization has participated in the March every year since it began in 1974. Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly noted the group’s longstanding mission to defend life in a Jan. 24 emailed press release… Kelly described the Knights’ participation in the March as part of their broader efforts to support women, children, and families. “Helping vulnerable women and children is in the Knights’ DNA,” he said (Catholic Vote). Knights of Columbus Poll: The 2025 Knights of Columbus-Marist Poll results show that 67% of Americans support placing legal limits on abortion, and that 60% support limiting abortions to at most the first three months of pregnancy… 83% of Americans support pregnancy resource centers, which offer support to mothers both during their pregnancy and after their baby is born. Trump Issues Executive Order Giving Federal Government More Control of California’s Water Management
Washington Examiner: President Donald Trump issued an executive order giving the federal government more control over California’s water management after sparring with Democrats, who he said have slow-walked Los Angeles’s recovery efforts. The order gives the Federal Emergency Management Agency and half a dozen agencies authority to override California state laws and federal statutes to provide relief amid the Los Angeles wildfires. In the latest escalation of Trump and Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) water wars, Trump threatened to withhold federal disaster aid in an effort to pressure the state to adopt an unrelated voter ID policy. Under a section of the executive order titled “Overriding Disastrous California Policies,” Trump ordered the secretary of defense, the attorney general, the secretary of Homeland Security, the secretary of commerce, the secretary of the interior, and the secretary of agriculture to address the authority they have over the state’s water supply (Washington Examiner). Fox News: The council is being formed after FEMA’s response to Hurricane Helene and other recent disasters showed the need to improve “efficacy, priorities, and competence, including evaluating whether FEMA’s bureaucracy in disaster response” hinders its ability to respond successfully. Trump also said FEMA has lost mission focus, diverting limited resources and staff to support missions outside its scope and authority. The president particularly highlighted that FEMA has spent over a billion dollars welcoming illegal immigrants (Fox News).

Legacy Media Gives Dramatically Less Coverage to Biden’s Pardons Than Trump’s
News Busters: Broadcast networks ABC, CBS, and NBC spent last week incensed by President Trump’s pardoning of Jan. 6 defendants, heaping over 46 minutes of coverage on the story within just a 48-hour period on their flagship morning and evening newscasts. By contrast, those same newscasts spared a pathetic three and a half minutes for the last-minute pardons former-President Biden issued for his family members… Despite Trump not even having issued those pardons by the time the evening newscasts aired on January 20, the possibility of his doing so was enough to beat out the airtime that Biden’s pardons received on both ABC and NBC that evening. On NBC, Trump’s then-rumored pardons received just shy of a minute (55 seconds), while Biden’s pardons got 40 seconds. Over on ABC, the split was 46 seconds for Trump and 34 seconds for Biden. Most alarmingly, those 34 seconds represent the entirety of the coverage that Biden’s pardons for his family members received on ABC during those first 48 hours (News Busters). Fox News: ABC, CBS, NBC spent over 46 minutes covering Trump Jan. 6 pardons, 3 minutes on Biden pardoning his family (X).

Survivors Celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Auschwitz Being Liberated
Associated Press: Auschwitz survivors warned Monday of the rising antisemitism and hatred they are witnessing in the modern world as they gathered with world leaders and European royalty on the 80th anniversary of the death camp’s liberation. In all, 56 survivors gathered under a huge tent set up over a gate and railway tracks at the site of the former camp. Many participants expect it to be the last major observance with any notable number of survivors given how exhausting it is for a group whose youngest members are in their late 80s. The numbers have already dwindled considerably from the 200 survivors who attended the 75th anniversary event. Nazi German forces murdered some 1.1 million people at the site in southern Poland, which was under German occupation during World War II. Most of the victims were Jews killed on an industrial scale in gas chambers, but also Poles, Roma, Soviet prisoners of war, gay people and others who were targeted for elimination in the Nazi racial ideology (Associated Press). Boris Johnson: Why is Holocaust Memorial Day so important? Because the recent global pandemic of antisemitism has shown all too clearly that the virus is still in the human bloodstream. Something like Auschwitz COULD happen again. We must make sure it never does. Never forget (X).
