RE: Imminent US Supreme Court decision

The US Supreme Court is about to decide a case that could change the way students attend school forever.

A parent’s constitutional right to direct the education of their child should be one of the most important rights that citizens have. This case, Espinoza v. Montana [[link removed]], will either validate or deny parents this critical right.

At the heart of Espinoza are the remnants of 19th Century bigotry in the guise of the Blaine Amendments that strictly prohibit government from supporting attendance to private school. These amendments which exist in 37 state constitutions are the main cause of legislative failures to enact educational choice programs that give parents the ability to send their children to a faith-based or other private schools.

The case will be decided before the end of June or sooner. It’s critical that people like yourself involved in private education be informed, and prepared to take action when this momentous decision is issued.

Click here to read our Blaine Amendment Advocacy Alert and fact sheet [[link removed]] which outlines how to rid our country of these bigoted laws one and for all and share this with everyone in your school community, teachers, parents, leaders and community supporters.

Founded in 1993, the Center for Education Reform [[link removed]] aims to expand educational opportunities that lead to improved economic outcomes for all Americans — particularly our youth — ensuring that conditions are ripe for innovation, freedom and flexibility throughout U.S. education.
