Our
Lady of Fatima Leading the Faithful.
Dear Friend,
On a breathtakingly beautiful day,
about 2,500 pro-lifers of all ages took part in the Diocese of San
Diego’s 13th Annual Walk for Life. This year Catholic Action for Faith
and Family participated with many members and supporters by processing
with its replica statue of the International Pilgrim Statue of Our
Lady of Fatima. Many other faithful gathered around the statue to
recite the rosary and sing Marian hymns as they processed. The statue
could be seen elevated above the crowd in the ornate carrier
positioned on the shoulders of four Knights of Columbus
members.
The walk even caught the attention
of the local newspaper, the San Diego Union-Tribune who published an
article with photos. While speaking on the stage at Waterfront Park in
downtown San Diego, Cardinal Robert McElroy who led the march wanted
those gathered to remember one thing. “It is the will of God that all
of us recognize the sacredness of the human person and particularly
the sacredness of unborn children, because in our national debates,
that is being eclipsed and obscured and cast aside”.
Walking beside so many mothers with
their children, something that St. Gianna Molla once said came to
mind. “Look at the mothers who truly love their children — how many
sacrifices they make for them. They are ready for everything, even to
give their own blood so that their babies grow up good, healthy and
strong.” It gives me hope to see both fathers and mothers teaching
their children about the sanctity of life. This will bring about a new
generation of committed young leaders that will be prepared to keep
the fight for life going.
Many felt the presence of Our Lady
as the pilgrim statue was carried throughout the walk.
What You Can Do to Support the Pro-Life
Movement
Learn what you can do to help women
in crisis pregnancies, single mothers who are young and vulnerable, as
well as those who struggle with psychological trauma after aborting
their babies or being sexually abused. Pray to the Blessed Mother for
discernment and guidance.
Every one of us is needed to halt
the slaughter of the unborn. Are you ready to do your part to stop
abortion? Commit to never be silent, passive or to forget about the
unborn.
Let us ask Our Blessed Mother to
come to the aid of mothers in crisis pregnancies, that they never be
pressured to have an abortion.
Embracing the sacredness of
life,
