Everything happening this week at DSA-LA

John,

This has been an extremely difficult start to the year. Los Angeles is faced with our greatest environmental disaster in decades. Donald Trump’s new administration has wasted no time to fast track his fascist agenda. Billionaires have lined up to bend the knee to the most right-wing administration in generations. In times like these, it is easy to feel defeated and overwhelmed.

We must maintain our vision of a better Los Angeles. Now is not the time to lose hope. Last Saturday, hundreds of us packed into the UTLA auditorium to strategize on fighting back against these fascist and capitalist interests. This week we are rallying for tenants and Palestine!

The ABCs of Socialism – Part II

Saturday, February 1 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Are you new to organized socialism? Are you looking for ways to talk about socialism (and tackle common questions) with your friends, family, co-workers? If so, join us for this accessible, introductory educational series, grounded in Jacobin’s The ABCs of Socialism.

Originally published in 2016, this short, engaging text tackles common questions about what socialism is (and what it isn’t) in a conversational way. This in-person, educational session will include an overview of the reading + time for discussion; it is designed to equip comrades with skills to more confidently understand and discuss socialist politics.

This is a two-part series, but you are very welcome to attend even if you missed the first session. We recommend you review pages 94-139 in The ABCs of Socialism book here (pages are very short).
