The Direct File tool can save you hours of time by filling in some of your information, like your employment and wage information from your W-2 form, if it's available. 

 

The program also eliminates the need for costly software or professional services. IRS Direct File is easy to use and tailored to guide you through every step of the process. California is one of the few states participating in this initiative, giving residents an opportunity to experience a more efficient way to file taxes.
