Months after Hurricane Helene struck our state, far too many western North Carolinians are still struggling to recover from the devastation and rebuild their lives.
My administration worked hard to get folks the aid they needed in the immediate aftermath of the storm, but we know this is a long-term recovery and there is still much to do.
In his first weeks in office, Governor Josh Stein has stepped up to the challenge. His first acts as Governor were to help keep western North Carolinians safe — providing for more temporary housing and accelerating the repair of critical infrastructure. It’s clear that Josh will always put our communities first and that he’s committed to getting western North Carolina the resources to recover and build back stronger.
