Friend,
One of the first rules of propaganda is, “never allow the public to cool off.”
It’s been one week since Donald Trump has been sworn in, and I can already see the headline fatigue on everyone’s faces.
Rest and self-care is so important to strong, united organizing and results. That, as well as my own sanity, is why I promise you I will never email you each and every time Donald Trump acts out. None of us have the energy for that, and after a while it’s just shouting into the wind.
But in these unique times, we need to stay connected, and I will be reaching out around meaningful updates in Washington, key deadlines, and if (or more likely, when) our race heats up.
That brings me to this: the first time I’m going to ask for your support in 2025.
It feels early, but National Republicans are already making decisions on which districts to target, and they’re already floating hit pieces on me to try and flip IL-17.
Trust me, I’d like a longer break too, but it’s the nature of the district. That’s also why it’s so important that we start this cycle with a strong fundraising close to January – nothing will have the NRCC avoiding our district like a large, early display of support that tells them to buzz off.
And the earlier we can seal off a challenge, we can use that time and effort to help friends in red-to-blue districts around me so we can have a blue House to cut off the worst far-right impulses.
So if you’re in this fight to keep our nation on track with me, I’m humbly asking you to pitch in $3 to help us close January with a message of intent. We’ve got a lot of work to do, and this is just the beginning.
