*Governor DeWine Announces New Projects
Set to Create More Than $1 Billion in Investments, Including Historic Anduril Project*
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)— Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik today announced the approval of a state tax incentive to support the largest single job creation and new payroll project in Ohio’s history.
During its monthly meeting today, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority [ [link removed] ] approved a 2.594 percent, 30-year Job Creation Tax Credit to support Anduril Industries’ [ [link removed] ] advanced manufacturing facility in Pickaway County. The tax credit has an estimated value of $452,263,789.
“These investments are propelling Ohio into a future defined by innovation, cutting-edge technology, and unmatched opportunity,” said Governor DeWine. "Anduril is not only revolutionizing America's defense industry, but it's joining the wave of coastal companies expanding to Ohio and bringing thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in capital investment to the Heart of it All."
Anduril, a California-based defense technology company, will construct Arsenal-1, a state-of-the-art, five-million-square-foot manufacturing facility. As announced by Governor DeWine on Jan. 16, 2025 [ [link removed] ], by 2035, the project is projected to:
* Employ 4,000 production and service workers.
* Create 4,500 additional indirect jobs to support the facility’s operations and growth.
* Produce more than $2 billion in economic output.
* Generate $1 billion in state labor income and $800 million in projected tax revenues.
Anduril chose Ohio for the state's pro-business environment, unmatched infrastructure, one of the nation’s largest skilled manufacturing workforces, and deep-rooted history of military and federal partnerships.
"Anduril’s investment in Ohio represents a transformative moment for our state, showcasing the power of collaboration between local, state, and private partners,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “This project reflects our commitment to driving economic growth and creating opportunities that will shape Ohio’s future for generations."
Pickaway County will also request $70 million from the All Ohio Future Fund [ [link removed] ] at an upcoming Controlling Board meeting. [ [link removed] ] Governor DeWine established the All Ohio Future Fund in partnership with the Ohio General Assembly to support local communities with site readiness and preparation to attract economic development projects.
The Tax Credit Authority also approved a second Pickaway County project during its monthly meeting.
BJ’s Wholesale Club, Inc. expects to create 250 full-time equivalent positions, generating more than $13 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new logistics and distribution facility in Commercial Point. BJ’s Wholesale Club is a membership-based warehouse retailer offering groceries, household items, electronics, and more at discounted prices. TCA approved a 1.605 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. The tax credit has an estimated value of $1,940,000.
The actual value of the credits is based on the jobs that are ultimately created and the new payroll that’s generated, which will be subject to state verification.
