John,

In his first week in office, the Trump administration released a wave of Executive Orders ([link removed]) meant to instill fear in immigrant communities, sow chaos in our courts, and undermine asylum protections. These actions have already had devastating impacts for immigrant communities and those seeking refuge in the United States while collectively advancing an anti-immigrant mass deportation agenda on multiple fronts.

These Executive Orders may result in the deportation or indefinite incarceration in detention centers for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers, putting our prison industrial complex on steroids, and result in family separation at an unprecedented level.

Immigrants who are undocumented remain vulnerable. But the impact does not end there. People who have temporary visas may see them terminated or unrenewed. People with temporary protected status, asylum seekers, DACA recipients, and many others are also in a precarious position. Please, make a donation now to support our efforts to defend immigrant New Yorkers. ([link removed])

The Trump administration issued a directive ending the Biden administration’s policy protecting sensitive locations from immigration enforcement, ensuring that community members can access basic services without fear. Revoking this policy that protected churches, schools, hospitals, and more from ICE enforcement is one of the Trump administration’s most egregious actions, and impacts each and every one of us. This new directive attacks the physical safety of immigrants, instills fear of even essential spaces in everyday life, and undermines public safety for everyone. Donate now to support our efforts to protect and defend immigrant New Yorkers. ([link removed])

The Trump administration has weaponized the government to do its bidding, no matter the cost to New Yorkers or our economy, which according to a new report from the Immigration Research Initiative and Fiscal Policy Institute ([link removed]) is likely to result in a loss of upwards of $310 million in state and local tax revenue. These estimates are not including deportation costs across the nation, which is expected to be upwards of $88 billion annually ([link removed]) .

Trump has not only targeted our cities, he is also going after immigrants fleeing persecution. He has effectively ended asylum ([link removed]) and cancelled all appointments from the CBP One app ([link removed]) , trying to reinstate the ‘Remain in Mexico,’ ([link removed]) pushed for funding for the Southern border wall ([link removed]) , and more.

In these trying times, it’s crucial we continue to stand together, protect each other and continue to recognize the value of our country as a nation of immigrants. Please, consider making a donation now to support our efforts to defend immigrant New Yorkers.
