Dear John xxxxxx,
If you missed last week's powerful #WeMatterToo conversation concerning women in custody, we would love to share with you the full video of last week's talk.
In light of the tragic death of Angela Circle Bear, a mother who died after contracting COVID-19 in a federal prison while 8 months pregnant, our Executive Director Sam Lewis joined two courageous and strong women for a discussion on what we can do to ensure the safety of incarcerated women. Speaking on their experiences in custody while pregnant were Pamela Winn, founder of RestoreHER US.America, and Akilah Shands, Anti-Recidivism Coalition member and advocate of criminal justice reform.
The #WeMatterToo campaign focuses on the individuals incarcerated through this time of COVID-19. The #WeMatterToo video uses the power of storytelling to lift up the voices of those in custody and bring awareness to the reality of incarceration through COVID-19. The video can be seen at https://www.wemattertoo.co.
