They should not be criminalized, re-victimized or re-traumatized as a result of their contact with law enforcement and judicial authorities. Too often, in fact, victims are treated as criminals or illegal migrants and are detained, charged, or prosecuted for violations of immigration law or for activities committed as a direct consequence of their being trafficked.”
