Dear IPS Colleagues,
Following the success of the first co-production course last year, we’ve scheduled another session for March. This 1-day course is focused on co-production with individuals who have lived experience.
Additionally, we are still taking applications for February’s team leader training course. This 4-day training will equip you with the skills to lead high-performing IPS services.
The above courses are specifically designed for team leaders and service managers working in NHS-funded secondary mental health services.

Co-production training for NHS funded IPS services in England
Date: 26 March 2025
Timings: 09:15 – 16:30 with regular breaks and an hour for lunch
Delivered: Live-online via Zoom
Price: This course is funded by NHS England, therefore there is no direct charge to NHS funded IPS services in England.
In partnership with IPS Grow, this course is designed for team leaders and service managers in NHS funded secondary mental health services. It explores co-production and the importance of collaboration with people who have lived experience (PWLE). Participants will gain practical knowledge and skills to effectively engage and work alongside PWLE, ensuring their voices are integral to service development and delivery.
The training will cover:
What is co-production?
* Understanding the principles and significance of co-production.
* Exploring the benefits of involving PWLE in decision-making processes.
Recruiting People with Lived Experience (PWLE)
* Strategies for recruiting PWLE.
* Highlighting the benefits to PWLE of becoming involved in co-production.
Best Practices in working with PWLE
* Setting up and managing a local panel of PWLE.
* Addressing reimbursement and payment issues.
Key co-production topics
* Effective recruitment panels.
* Developing and utilising case studies.
* Creating service user-friendly materials.
* Engaging speakers with lived experience.
Course Format: This training will be delivered through a combination of interactive workshops and practical exercises, providing participants with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
Eligibility:
As this course is funded by NHS England you will need to be a team leader or service manager in an NHS trust delivering an IPS service for people in secondary mental health services. This course is open to both NHS staff and third sector providers. Application required.

IPS Team Leader Training for NHS funded IPS services in England
Dates: 18, 19, 25, 26 Feb 2025 (4-day course)
Times each day: 09:30 – 16:30 with regular breaks and an hour for lunch
Delivered: Live online over 4 days, via Zoom
Price: As this course is funded by NHS England, there are no costs to your service to attend, and you must be able to commit to all 4 days of the training and associated coursework.
About this course
This 4-day IPS leadership training course is funded by NHS England and designed for IPS team leaders or supervisors working in secondary mental health services.
Developed by Centre for Mental Health, Social Finance and IPS Grow, this course focuses on the core knowledge and key skills required to establish and lead high performing IPS services.
Delivered live-online across 4 days, this course uses a mixture of presentation, group work, digital breakout rooms, polls, coursework, action learning sets, self-directed learning and individual learning logs.
The training will cover:
* The leadership role of employment supervisor/team leader
* Specialist skills development for employment specialists and the wider team
* Measuring and improving outcomes for clients
* Managing culture, reducing stigma, and addressing bias
* Coaching, supervision and support for employment specialists and the wider team, including peer supervision
* Building personal relationships with clients and colleagues
* Multi-disciplinary team working
* Dealing with challenges and problem solving in IPS
* Working across teams, services, and organisations
* Understanding the IPS client base and assessing/managing risks.
* Evaluating impact of the IPS service, governance, planning and development
* Research, evaluation, and development of the IPS service
