Dear Jack,

I'm wishing the best for you and your family during this difficult time, and I hope you had a wonderful and meaningful Memorial Day. Every week, I'll be sending you updates on what the COVID-19 situation looks like in Virginia, and the latest news on what we're doing to stop the spread and help those who are impacted by the virus.

Phase 1 Reopening Friday

According to the Governor's press conference today, he is planning to allow Northern Virginia localities, including Loudoun County and Prince William County, to enter Phase 1 of the reopening process on Friday, May 29th. This does not mean that the virus is gone, nor does it mean that we are done taking precautions. You can read more about what Phase 1 means for you here.

Mandatory Face Coverings

Governor Northam signed Executive Order 63 today, which makes face coverings mandatory in many settings. You can read more about the executive order here.

Face coverings are an essential step in reopening our Commonwealth, and have been shown to reduce the risk of virus transmission by 75% in some studies. Please cover your face every time you leave the house -- you could save a life without even knowing.

COVIDCheck

The Virginia Department of Health has launched a new site, COVIDCheck. Here, you can check your symptoms, find a testing location, or get answers about your COVID-19 questions.

Upcoming Elections

Lovettsville, Middleburg, and Purcellville residents -- your town elections have been moved to Tuesday, June 4th. Your last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Thursday, May 28th. As a reminder, all voters can now vote absentee using the excuse 2A, "my disability or illness." You can request your absentee ballot here. The federal primary elections are coming up on Tuesday, June 23rd. You can check this PDF for a list of primary candidates in your district.
