Dear Friend,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our
Weekend Update.
The wait is over. President Donald J.
Trump has been sworn in as the 47th President of the United States of
America. President Trump's inauguration marks a defining moment for
America. His bold leadership will restore confidence in the American
dream, secure our borders, unleash energy production, grow the
economy, and put America First.

This New Golden Age is about unity,
pride, common sense, and a renewed national purpose. Together, we have
the opportunity to make the next four years the greatest in our
nation’s history. Click

While the cold weather forced the Trump
team to make the difficult decision to move the swearing-in ceremony
inside, the festivities were lively, and the mood was exuberant as we
were all ready for President Trump to take his spot in the White House
again.
Below is a slideshow of many great
pictures of my family, friends and supporters throughout the
inauguration festivities. Click

On Monday morning, I joined "Fox and Friends First" on Fox
News, where I emphasized the importance of Republican unity in
delivering President Trump’s clear mandate to the American people.
Together, we will secure our borders, strengthen national security,
unleash American energy, and champion pro-growth policies that benefit
families, small businesses, and our entire economy. Click

I joined the "RJ Harris Breakfast Show" on WHP 580
on
Monday morning. I previewed the
historic inauguration of President Donald J. Trump and discussed the
American First Agenda, which will benefit all Pennsylvanians. Click

After 894 days in Taliban captivity, Ryan Corbett—a Susquehanna
County native—is finally free and has been reunited with his wife,
Anna, and their three children. This marks the end of a long and
harrowing chapter for the Corbett family, and we are very grateful for
this positive outcome.
My office met regularly with Ryan’s family, the U.S. State
Department, the Hostage Negotiation Team, and Qatari officials
throughout this process. We also worked closely with Rep. Claudia
Tenney’s
office to advocate for Ryan’s release. Special thanks to my Chief of
Staff, Tim Costa, and Regional Director, James May, for their tireless
efforts, including maintaining daily contact with Anna and the family
during this ordeal.
We must also recognize and thank President Trump and National
Security Advisor Mike Waltz, whose leadership and commitment made the
difference in bringing Ryan home. Welcome home, Ryan.
Rep.
Tenney and I
informed Speaker
Mike Johnson that Ryan Corbett was
freed from Taliban captivity. We will continue fighting for the
release of all Americans wrongfully detained abroad.

On Tuesday,
House Republicans
joined Sean Hannity live on Fox News from the
Capitol as Speaker Johnson laid out his plan to advance President
Trump’s America First Agenda. With President Trump in the White House
and unified Republican control of Congress, we will usher in a new
Golden Age of America.

On Thursday, I joined "The Big Money
Show" on Fox Business to discuss President Trump's comments at
the World Economic Forum in Davos. He made it crystal clear to the
world that America is back and open for business. With an
America First focus on revitalizing manufacturing, energy dominance,
and fair trade, his leadership signals a new era of American strength
and opportunity. Click

Debanking—targeting and cutting off access to financial services
undermines industries and livelihoods. This trend has been seen across
sectors, such as digital assets, energy, and firearms
manufacturing.
Such actions, often under regulatory pressure, are not just
inappropriate—they're unfair, anti-competitive, and contrary to the
principles of a free market. Our financial system is the world's envy,
and I will continue to scrutinize any efforts that erode its
foundation of fairness and opportunity. I appeared on Fox
Business to discuss further. Click

President Trump's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act
delivered real results for hard-working families and small businesses.
It fueled record-low unemployment, strong GDP growth, and real wage
increases for all Americans. Families saw household incomes rise by
over $6,000 yearly, and 6 million people were lifted from poverty.
Main Street small businesses also benefited from over 66 billion in
tax savings, allowing them to reinvest in their employees, innovation,
and communities. I'm happy to partner with Americans for Prosperity -
Pennsylvania on their #ProtectProsperity
campaign to extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Click

Congratulations to Pete Hegseth, our newly sworn-in Secretary of
Defense. His commitment to peace through strength and unwavering
support for the men and women of our armed services is exactly what
our military needs. I look forward to the renewed focus and bold
leadership he will bring to our armed forces.
Secretary Hegseth declared shortly after being sworn in, “We will
put America First, and we will never back down.” These are not just
words but a call to action.
In 2017, Pete attended a Schuylkill County Chamber event at
the invitation of President Bob Carl. Secretary Hegseth has always
been an advocate for the America First Agenda.
Additionally, I would like to applaud
other cabinet members who have been confirmed, including our new
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Direct John Ratcliffe, and DHS
Secretary Kristi Noem. President Trump's team is filled with patriotic
Americans committed to the American First Agenda.
IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: On Day 1 in office, President Trump signed
an Executive Order that suspends the physical entry of illegal aliens
engaged in an invasion of the United States through the southern
border.
- In joining the Union, the States agreed to surrender much of their
sovereignty in exchange for the federal government’s promise in
Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, to “protect each of
[the States] against Invasion.”
- States, such as the Great State of Texas, have asked the Federal
Government for protection against invasion during the Biden
Administration, but it failed to protect them from millions of illegal
aliens entering the United States, invading their communities, and
imposing billions of dollars of costs upon State and local
governments.
- The President has the authority under the Immigration and
Nationality Act, as well as the inherent authority under Article II of
the Constitution, to prevent the physical entry of illegal aliens into
the United States across the southern border.
DIRECTION TO IMMEDIATELY REPEL, REPATRIATE, AND REMOVE ILLEGAL
ALIENS INVOLVED IN AN INVASION:
- Through the exercise of his authority under the Immigration and
Nationality Act and the Constitution of the United States, President
Trump is authorizing and directing the Department of Homeland
Security, the Department of Justice, and the Department of State to
take all necessary action to immediately repel, repatriate, and remove
illegal aliens across the southern border of the United
States.
- Through the exercise of his authority, President Trump has further
restricted access to the provisions of the immigration laws that would
enable any illegal alien involved in an invasion across the southern
border of the United States to remain in the United States, such as
asylum.
PROMISES KEPT: In 2024, President Trump promised to “seal
the border on Day 1.”
- As President Trump described in 2018: “Illegal immigration affects
the lives of all Americans. Illegal immigration hurts American
workers; burdens American taxpayers; and undermines public safety; and
places enormous strain on local schools, hospitals, and communities in
general, taking precious resources away from the poorest Americans who
need them most. Illegal immigration costs our country billions and
billions of dollars each year…I will, therefore, take every lawful
action at my disposal to address this crisis. And that’s what we’re
doing.”
The failed policies of the Biden administration created many
problems, but perhaps none more dangerous than the crisis at the
southern border. President Trump has taken decisive action to secure
our border and stop the invasion. The results of his policies have
already made an impact. Fox News
has reported that the number of Border
Patrol encounters at the southern border in the first three days of
the Trump administration is 35% lower than the final three days of the
Biden administration, according to multiple sources at the Department
of Homeland Security.
Additionally. under the direction of President Trump, Trump's
Border Czar Tom Homan has led the charge already to purge our
communities of violent, career criminals who reside in our nation
illegally. Already, his teams have conducted hundreds of tactical
raids, which have rounded up hundreds of violent criminals. Fox
News has an excellent report on their efforts, which includes
the viral video of an illegal alien criminal from Haiti who was
apprehended. This individual had 17 recent criminal convictions and
was still on the streets of Boston. As he was arrested, he
screamed: “F**k Trump! You feel me? Yo, Biden forever, bro!” the
man said. “Thank Obama for everything that he did for me, bro!” That
sums up the Democrat's failed border agenda in one statement. Click
here or below to watch the segment.

Congress has acted as well on illegal
immigration. For the last four years, violent, illegal
immigrants have been allowed to flow into our communities unchecked.
Now, within 48 hours of President Trump's swearing-in, the Laken Riley
Act was sent to President Trump’s desk, ensuring illegal immigrants
who break the law are detained and deported before they can commit
acts of violence against Americans.

At a time when Joe Biden lied about
issuing pardons to his family, Hunter Biden, or murderers on death
row, President Trump kept his promise to commute and pardon J6ers.
That's a big difference between these two presidents. I joined CNN to
discuss. Click

As chairman of the Financial Services
Committee Republicans Subcommittee
on Oversight and Investigations, I will focus on protecting America
First interests in our financial system while addressing waste, fraud
and abuse in government. This work will include confronting regulatory
abuses like Operation Choke Point 2.0, in which regulators targeted
industries they disfavor, from crypto to coal, and shut them out of
the financial system. Click
here or below to watch my remarks.

This week, I reintroduced the
bipartisan China Exchange Rate Transparency Act (CERT Act) to address
China’s currency manipulation and lack of financial transparency. This
legislation calls for greater accountability at the IMF to ensure fair
global trade practices. By standing up to China’s manipulation, we’re
working to protect American workers, businesses, and farmers from
unfair competition. Click

On Monday, we celebrated the life
and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a man committed to the fight
for justice and equality. His famous words are stitched into the heart
of this great nation and continue to inspire generations of Americans
to work together for a better, more perfect union.

On Friday, thousands gathered in
our nation’s capital for the 52nd annual March for Life.
I applaud their dedication to protecting the rights of the unborn. In
Congress, I remain committed to advancing policies that support
mothers and uphold the sanctity of life.

Finally, while much of the national news
was focused on President Trump's inauguration, we celebrated a
momentum occasion in Pennsylvania as well. While I was in D.C. for
session on Tuesday, our three GOP statewide row officers, Attorney
General Dave Sunday, State Treasurer Stacy Garrity, and Auditor
General Tim DeFoor, were sworn in. This is the first time that
Republicans have held all three row offices. Congratulations to all
three, and I look forward to working with them where I can to support
Pennsylvania.

May God continue to bless our nation. I
look forward to seeing you soon,

Dan
