Dear John,

President Trump's inauguration was incredible for our country and the world. Because of his overwhelming victory, we are a nation that is filled with hope for a safe and more prosperous future. I look forward to working with the Trump administration and my colleagues in Congress to Make America Great Again!

Week One Wins

President Trump's inauguration was the first step in getting America back on track. In just one week, we have seen massive wins for border security, energy production, and government efficiency.

National and Border Security

President Trump has issued multiple executive orders to strengthen our national security, secure our southern border, and provide support to our Border Patrol Agents, including:

  • Ending ‘catch-and-release’ of illegal immigrants;
  • Reinstating the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy;
  • Providing support to law enforcement agencies; and
  • Redesignating Houthi Rebels as a foreign terrorist organization.
Additionally, the Laken Riley Act passed the House of Representatives and the Senate. It will head to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law. I was proud to support this legislation to prevent another family from experiencing this tragedy.

Energy

On day one, President Trump issued executive orders to unleash American energy. The United States has an abundance of natural resources, but under the Biden-Harris administration, these resources were hindered by the administration's climate agenda. President Trump's policies include:

  • Declaring an energy emergency;
  • Ending the electric vehicle mandate; and
  • Increasing production of oil and natural gas.

Economy

Americans have been crushed by the high inflation and the rising costs of everyday items due to Democrats' reckless government spending. This week President Trump took action to address these issues. His policies include:

  • Establishing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to crack down on wasteful government spending and unelected bureaucrats; and
  • Reviewing trade agreements.

Transparency and Reform

Faith in our government has continued to deteriorate due to lack of transparency, accountability, and government overreach. This week, steps were taken to restore public trust, including:

  • Ending government censorship of the American people; and
  • Promoting and protecting the constitutional right of free speech.

Just the Beginning

The first week of President Trump's term got off to a fast start and I am very optimistic about what we can accomplish over the next four years. We still have work to do to deliver for the American people and I look forward to continuing to provide updates along the way!

Strengthening our Supply Chain through the LICENSE Act

Illinois and America's truck drivers are the backbone of our nation's supply chains and key to strengthening our economy. Unfortunately, we are experiencing an extreme shortage of drivers. To help ease that, I introduced the LICENSE Act, to help cut through red tape and expedite the process for qualified drivers to get their commercial driver's license. We must ensure that companies are able to hire qualified drivers in a timely manner.

Joining Sean Hannity

It was great to be with some of my Republican colleagues, Speaker Johnson, and Sean Hannity Tuesday night!

We do not have time to waste. House Republicans are united and ready to work on delivering on the promises we made to the American people.

One More Thing: Thank you to the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office!

Winnebago County Sheriff Caruana and 40 of his deputies came to D.C. to support the Inauguration. They braved the cold outside at Union Station to help ensure a safe and secure Inauguration.

 We are grateful for their service. Thank you!
