Pardoning violent insurrectionists. Withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement. Shutting down legal immigration pathways. Trying to end birthright citizenship.
If the first week of Donald Trump’s presidency has you feeling alarmed and outraged, you’re not alone. Here’s something to do about it:
Chip in to help us win the next round of battles for our rights and our democracy. Right now, we’ve set a goal to raise $20,000 by the end of the month to turbocharge the fight for fair electoral maps and a government that truly reflects the will of the people: [[link removed]]
Look, we won’t sugarcoat it. The next four years will be long and difficult for anyone who cares about our democracy, the rule of law, our fellow Americans, and people around the world.
But here’s the thing: You can draw a direct line connecting the dangerous policies of Donald Trump and his enablers to the countless state-level electoral battles happening across the country.
Just look at the ongoing effort by the GOP to steal a North Carolina Supreme Court seat. No doubt this is rooted in and fueled by the election-denying lies that Donald Trump continues to repeat — even during his inauguration this past week.
Or look at the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court election, which will take place in a state that saw key victories for pro-democracy candidates last November and will now once again determine ideological control of the court.
By electing candidates who respect our elections and protect our freedoms, we can help make sure Americans are able to make their voices heard throughout our government.
Forget “trickle-down” economics — this is “trickle-up” politics, when the work we do defending democracy at the state level can make all the difference at the national level.
When we fight back against gerrymandering, when we support pro-democracy candidates, when we demand fair representation — we are part of the movement that will ultimately reject MAGA’s dangerous policies and Trump’s authoritarian worldview.
Right now, let’s send a powerful message that we won’t stop working to defend our democracy — chip in a contribution to power our movement in the year ahead: [[link removed]]
