Dear Angelenos,

There is rain in the forecast this weekend. I want to remind you to stay safe and be prepared.

Recent burn areas from the Palisades, Hurst, Kenneth, and Sunset fires create a higher risk of debris flows and water runoff that may contain hazardous substances.

The National Weather Service has put into place flood watches for the burn areas.

Ahead of this potential rain, Iissued an emergency order ([link removed]) that marshals City Public Works crews to clear and remove vegetation, shore up hillsides, reinforce roads and clear debris from neighborhoods and burn areas ahead of rainy weather.

** BE PREPARED:
------------------------------------------------------------
Check in on your neighbors, make sure they are prepared
To prepare, the City is making free sandbags available to our residents at a number of locations across neighborhoods. Click here ([link removed]) to find a location near you.

Sign up to receive text, email, and phone call LA City emergency alerts for your home, work, and school at www.notifyla.org.

If you have recently relocated to a new area, sign up for alerts at your new address.

** DURING THE STORM:
------------------------------------------------------------
take the following actions
* Avoid areas where there is water runoff from recent wildfire burn scars including debris basins.
* Roads are often slick during the first storm of the season. Give yourself extra time to safely drive to your destination during the storm.
* Call 911 with any life-threatening emergencies.
* Call 311 to report downed tree branches, blocked storm drains, or localized flooding.

Please stay safe.
