Folks, in recent years, fighting for choice, science, democracy, and truth feels more and more like we’re swimming against the current.
How can we tackle climate change or public health when half of Congress pretends it doesn’t exist?
Or uphold the rule of law, when President Convicted Felon just pardons his criminal henchmen?
How can we have a fair fight against an opponent who’s willing to lie, cheat, and betray every single principle they supposedly held in order to win?
Well, in the wise words of Finding Nemo's Dory: We just keep swimming.
Sure, the skies are stormy and the seas are rough. But if we stop paddling and let the current take us away, our chances of stopping climate change, restoring reproductive rights, or rebuilding a lawful democratic society from the smoldering ruins of Trumpism are roughly 0%.
Our only option is to strap on some life vests and have faith, friend, that these dark days won’t last forever.
I’ll round out the metaphors with a quick request: Will you help us sail past our End-of-Month goal next week? Now’s the most crucial time to show our strength in numbers.
Thanks for helping to keep our collective heads above water,
Sean Casten
