Dear John,
It’s been a busy week in Washington as House Republicans get to work on
implementing President Trump’s America First agenda while the Senate tackles
the all-important task of confirming his cabinet nominees.
The American people demanded change at the ballot box—a clear mandate for
major government reform. For President Trump to deliver on that promise, the
Senate must put an end to political games and start confirming his nominees.
That’s why I joined a letter with my House colleagues urging our counterparts
in the Senate to act swiftly on these nominations. Thanks to the failures of
the Biden-Harris administration, we’re facing crises on both borders, sky-high
inflation, and a weaponized federal bureaucracy that needs to be drained and
dismantled. We can’t fix these problems while Senate Democrats waste time
smearing nominees for cheap sound bites and fundraising clips. It’s time to
stop stalling, confirm EVERYONE, and start delivering for the American people.
I was proud to speak in favor of and then vote AYE on the Born Alive Abortion
Survivors Protection Act, which passed the House this week. This bill, rooted
in the most basic principles of human decency, is straightforward: if a baby
survives an attempted abortion and is born alive, they must receive the same
medical care as any other newborn. Unfortunately and appallingly, this bill
passed the House with virtually no Democrat support. In the Senate, progress is
already being blocked by Democrats. The filibuster means it will need 60 votes
to advance, but not one Senate Democrat has signaled their support. Their
refusal to protect newborns sends a chilling message and clearly demonstrates
that their party holds the extreme position on abortion. Innocent, newborn
babies deserve our voice, our protection, and our commitment to protecting
their right to life.
It was bittersweet to vote YES on the Laken Riley Act, which passed the House
this week and will soon be signed into law by President Trump. Laken was a
bright and compassionate nursing student who had her future stolen by a
criminal that never should have been here. This bill gives ICE the tools to
detain illegal immigrants accused of theft-related crimes, allows states to
hold the federal government accountable for harm caused by illegal immigration,
and ensures those who harm or kill Americans face swift and certain justice.
While this bill won’t allow her family to see her achieve her dreams, it can
protect and save others. It’s a step toward ensuring no other family endures
the heartbreak the Riley family has suffered.
Already, ICE is removing dangerous criminals from even the most liberal
sanctuary cities, and President Trump has sent troops to the border. The
message is clear: America will no longer tolerate criminal aliens endangering
our communities. I look forward to continuing my work with President Trump to
secure our borders, protect American families, and deliver the justice and
safety you deserve.
As always, thank you for your continued trust and support. Don’t hesitate to
reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with anything. Thank you
for your continued support!
With gratitude,
