Wear Orange Weekend Starts June 5th!

John–

Wear Orange is June 5th! The 6th National Gun Violence Awareness Day is when we honor the people shot and killed or wounded by gun violence, and survivors of gun violence. We honor them and renew our commitment to ending gun violence in America by taking action and taking part in Wear Orange. And for the entire weekend (June 5-7), we're holding virtual events across the country to raise awareness for gun violence prevention. Will you join us?

We may be apart from one another, but we're going to celebrate Wear Orange Weekend together. Find a virtual Wear Orange Weekend event in your community and sign up to attend!

In 2013, 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton was shot and killed in Chicago. After her death, her friends and family wore orange to honor Hadiya and the hundreds of Americans killed and wounded by gun violence every day. Every year since then, to coincide with Hadiya's birthday on June 2, we've worked to continue their efforts by wearing orange on the first Friday of June and the entirety of that weekend.

We know that gun violence continues to impact communities across the country, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. That's why we're organizing virtual Wear Orange events with local community partners across the country, so that Moms Demand Action volunteers, Students Demand Action volunteers, survivors of gun violence, and all people in America can come together in this movement. And we're partnering with a broad coalition of nonprofits, cultural figures, and elected officials working to reduce gun violence in America to make #WearOrange a success.

John, these may be difficult times, but that won't stop us from Wearing Orange. This year—like every year—we honor the people shot and killed or wounded by gun violence by Wearing Orange, sharing #WearOrange online on June 5th, and joining virtual community events from June 5th-June 7th!

I'm looking forward to joining you for Wear Orange.
