I never thought politics was for someone like me. I’m the daughter of a former union meat-cutter, a survivor of gun violence, and a formerly unhoused single mother of two. My journey into activism began when Michael Brown was killed in Ferguson in 2014, and for over 400 days, I stood on the frontlines, demanding justice for Black lives.
When my community asked me to run for office, I took that leap. Together, we defeated a 52-year political dynasty and made history, proving that movements led by everyday people can change the course of history. But even as I served in Congress, introducing transformative legislation and delivering billions in funding for St. Louis, big money forces worked tirelessly to silence our movement.
And John, I won’t sugarcoat it — we have a bitter fight ahead of us. Trump and his extremist allies are gearing up to dismantle our progress, threaten our civil rights, deregulate environmental protections, and so much more.
Politivist Action PAC is our answer. It’s about building power from the ground up — supporting grassroots candidates who refuse corporate PAC money, confronting the rise of right-wing extremism, and driving forward the fight for racial, economic, and social justice.
This is a movement, not a moment. Let’s show the megadonors that they can’t buy our power. Join us in building a future where every leader is unbought, unbossed, and unapologetic in their fight for justice.
