One of Trump’s first actions back in office was to strike diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives from the federal government. Contrary to MAGA propaganda that only seeks to divide us, diversity, equity and inclusion helps make sure the door is open wide enough to everyone who is qualified. That way people who have traditionally had less access to opportunities get the chance to be considered and, if chosen, feel comfortable and supported once they are there.
Russ Vought, Trump’s nominee to be the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, if confirmed, will be responsible for ensuring that all agencies of the federal government carry out the administration’s priorities. And that includes dismantling agencies and pushing out career civil servants. And we know Vought, as a self-identified Christian nationalist, is ready to go the extra mile to eliminate the rights and protections of those who work for the federal government.

Trump has announced plans to nominate Russ Vought to be the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). He’s a Trump loyalist, major Project 2025 architect, Christian nationalist, and generally a threat to our rights, freedoms, and democracy.

Vought identifies as a Christian nationalist. He and his allies want to make all Americans live under their interpretation of “biblical principles.” Christian nationalists seek to take away our freedoms and control our lives based on what we look like, where we come from, how we worship, and whom we love. Our multiracial, religiously diverse democracy is too important to let slip under the control of Christian nationalists.
Vought is a key architect of Project 2025. I remember when Trump disavowed the plan during the campaign, but here we are again with him trying to give a Project 2025 designer the power to impose its agenda on the government and on all Americans.
Project 2025 calls for dismantling the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Education. Vought has even worked on plans for Trump to use military force against protesters.[1] These schemes threaten Americans’ lives and well-being, and they undermine our democracy, our fundamental freedoms, and our national values.
