I remember a lot of talk about how expensive eggs were last year. I also remember Trump saying that on day one of his presidency prices were going to fall. Everything was going to get cheaper. You probably remember that, too.
Well, we’re five days into his presidency. What have we seen?
On his first day in office, Trump signed an executive order that slashed billions of dollars in projects and thousands of jobs in Arizona. He revoked an executive order that directed the federal government to negotiate drug prices for seniors. He pardoned a criminally convicted leader of a $200 million underground drug network. The list goes on and on and on, and it gets worse every day. Oh, and egg prices are up more than a dollar since December of 2024!
How, exactly, is this stuff supposed to make anything cheaper for anybody?
Look, if these guys want to work together to lower costs, I’m right here. I’m ready. But we’re not even a full week into Trump’s administration and we’ve already seen where their priorities are.
Trump and Republicans in DC want to prioritize tax cuts for billionaires over health care for seniors, or jobs for working people, or the cost of living. End of story.
Not if I have anything to say about it.
Arizona sent me to the Senate to fight for them, the same as I would fight for my own family. And if Trump and his team think they’re going to push through massive tax cuts for the most ridiculously wealthy people in the country while everything gets more expensive for working families, seniors, and veterans… they’ve got another thing coming.
We’ve got to hold firm now. Trump and his team are going to push us, but we cannot break. And to do that, I need you with me.
