It’s almost time, John! In just one week, we’ll be broadcasting the National Immigrant Justice Center's (NIJC) first-ever virtual Human Rights Awards on Tuesday, June 2nd at 5PM CT -- and there’s still time to RSVP!

This year’s awards will feature a powerful lineup of individuals who have fought for human rights, advocated for change, overcome adversity, led with courage, and fostered hope in our community and beyond. Two such people who you'll hear from during the event are former NIJC clients, Johannes Favi and Alejandra Cano.

Johannes (pictured with two of his children) was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for nearly a year, missing the birth of his child and causing extreme hardship for his family on the outside. With the help of NIJC lawyers, Johannes was recently freed and reunited with his family, as COVID-19 spread like wildfire in immigration jails. Johannes will present at the Human Rights Awards, and we’re honored to have him join us. Read more about Johannes' powerful story here.

Alejandra is a mother and green card holder in Chicago who, after living in the U.S. for 41 years, faces deportation. Her case has garnered local and national attention as she fights to remain with her family and community, and she has used her platform to advocate for a more just immigration system. We’re excited to have Alejandra share her compelling story at the Human Rights Awards. Read more about Alejandra and her case here.

And lastly, at the Human Rights Awards, we'll celebrate a critical contributor to NIJC’s mission of protecting immigrant rights: you. Your support is essential to ensuring life-saving legal services and programs, and we are sincerely grateful for your backing.

So we hope you'll join us next week on June 2nd at 5PM CT for NIJC's 21st Annual Human Rights Awards virtual event! RSVP now.

I look forward to seeing you online next Tuesday at the Human Rights Awards!
