Dear John,
We’re thrilled to announce a significant milestone for our organization: the expansion of our legal team with the addition of Rebecca Garverman as our new Staff Attorney . Rebecca’s first project with the Nonhuman Rights Project will be to investigate strategic opportunities that complement our habeas corpus litigation. This marks an exciting step forward in our mission to secure legal rights for nonhuman animals.
Rebecca brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for animal rights to her work with us. A Massachusetts-licensed attorney based in Boston, Rebecca joins us following her role as Staff Attorney for Harvard Law School’s Animal Law & Policy Clinic.
Her impressive credentials include a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Rebecca has also honed her legal expertise in private practice as a corporate attorney at Goodwin Procter and is actively involved with the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Animal Law Practice Group. Notably, she has presented oral arguments to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, advocating to protect Tule Elk, and to the Western District of New York, challenging the USDA over inhumane slaughter practices, showcasing her litigation and advocacy skills for the advancement of legal protections for nonhuman animals.
In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys baking, watching Broadway musicals, and reading Winnie the Pooh to her toddler.
We’re thrilled to add Rebecca’s skillset to our all-star team as we continue to build on our steady progress and persist in our unique fight for nonhuman animal rights. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome to the team!
With excitement,
Christopher Berry
