Governor Walz announces his 2025 Infrastructure Plan at the Rapidan Dam in Mankato

On Thursday, Governor Walz announced his 2025 infrastructure plan at the Rapidan Dam in Mankato. The Governor’s bonding proposal includes $887 million for projects that protect Minnesota’s drinking water, keep communities safe, and support housing development. Investments include funding for a new State Patrol headquarters and $10 million for Rapidan Dam recovery efforts.

“I’m proposing an infrastructure plan that will protect our drinking water, improve public infrastructure, and enhance public safety,” said Governor Walz. “Investing in the basics ensures that our communities have the infrastructure they need to thrive. With this plan, we’re delivering on the nuts and bolts of what government should provide, making life safer and easier for all Minnesotans.”

“With this bonding plan, we’re expanding on last year’s significant work and making smart investments to keep Minnesotans safe and healthy,” said Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan. “By promoting a strong economy, supporting affordable housing, enhancing public transportation, and improving infrastructure, we’re benefiting our communities, protecting our children and families, and ensuring a prosperous future for generations to come.”

Last week, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan announced that WalletHub has ranked Minnesota as a top state to raise a family. Minnesota ranked second in WalletHub’s study, comparing key factors across all 50 states including family income, housing affordability, health care quality, safety, and school quality.

“Making Minnesota the best state to raise a family has been my mission since day one,” said Governor Walz. “Investments in education, tax cuts to the middle-class, paid family and medical leave, and public safety have set us apart as an example for how to make life easier for working families. I’ll protect these investments, and I won’t stop fighting until we are number one.”

“Children and families are at the center of everything we do,” said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. “Through smart investments in universal school meals, paid family and medical leave, affordable housing, and a nation-leading Child Tax Credit, Minnesota has become one of the best states in the country to raise a family. I’m so proud of this recognition.”

They are protecting communities and saving lives.”
