Tell the EU: don’t kneel to Trump - hold Musk to account

Elon Musk’s fortune is enabling him to buy elections – pouring a quarter of a billion USD into the Trump campaign and landing himself a senior position in the White House overseeing spending decisions.

And it’s not just in the US. Elon Musk is meddling with UK and German elections too, backing far-right leaders like Reform UK’s Nigel Farage and the AfD’s Alice Weidel — even promoting the latter in a livestream chat on X that brought in 200,000 viewers.

In 2023 the EU launched an investigation into X over the platform’s spread of illegal content and information manipulation. Now Musk’s meddling in elections is another element the EU will include in its investigation, and EU experts have just said the platform could even be banned.

But the truth is, the Trump/Musk combo is immensely powerful, and even the smallest comment from Trump could spook EU officials. Time will tell whether the EU will capitulate to Trump — but we can’t sit back while our democracies are on the line.
