John,
President Trump has wasted no time in taking action during his first week back in the White House. On his first day alone, President Trump issued roughly 1,500 pardons and commuted 14 sentences for participants in the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. In many instances, this meant restoring the rights of attempted insurrectionists to purchase and possess firearms.
And for some of those pardoned, that’s exactly how they planned to celebrate their newfound freedom. The “Q-Anon Shaman,” a recognizable figure from the day who donned a fur-covered hat with horns, instantly took to social media to share his plans, saying “Thank you President Trump. Now I’m going to buy some motha f***** guns.” |

Remembering Monterey Park and Half-Moon Bay Shootings |
Two years ago this week, 11 people were shot and killed and nine others were injured in Monterey Park, CA, during a Lunar New Year festival. Just two days later, another shooting killed seven people and injured eight others in Half-Moon Bay, CA.
These two tragedies, so close together both in time and location, remind us of the work that still needs to be done. While the shootings were unrelated, they were connected in their impact on the area’s AAPI and LatinX communities and underscored the consequences of America’s easy access to firearms. So, please, join us in taking action today and listen to our podcast on how to support victims and survivors of gun violence. |
Honoring With Action: 31st Annual MLK Vigil and Day of Action |
Brady and Team ENOUGH advocates lobbying for gun safety at the Virginia State Capitol
|
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Brady and Team ENOUGH, our youth-led initiative, joined a coalition of gun violence prevention groups for the 31st annual MLK Vigil and Day of Action in Virginia. We gathered at the State Capitol to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and all those impacted by gun violence.
Throughout the day, we had dozens of meetings with senators and delegates, sharing how gun violence has affected Virginians and what can be done to reduce gun violence in the state.
We advocated for legislation to regulate ghost guns, ban assault weapons, mandate safe firearm storage in the home, and more. It was a productive day for advocates, as they came together to promote peace in their community and honor Martin Luther King Jr. with action.
If you are interested in joining advocacy events like this one, sign up to join a Brady or Team ENOUGH chapter today.
