Trump and the GOP are waging an all-out war to block Vote by Mail ahead of the November election.
Trump just threatened to withhold federal funding from Michigan and Nevada over their plans to expand mail-in voting during the pandemic. Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee just filed a lawsuit against California to stop the state from mailing absentee ballots to all voters ahead of the 2020 election.
Our democracy and the next four years are at stake, John. Trump and the GOP know that when more people vote, they’re more likely to lose. If we don’t fight back right now and get more states to stand up to Trump and make Vote by Mail available to all voters, it’s likely that Trump will win in November.

At a recent press conference, Trump exclaimed, “I think mail-in voting is horrible and corrupt.” A reporter interjected to point out that Trump himself voted by mail in Florida’s election last month. When asked how he reconciled that he said, “Well, that’s because I’m allowed to.”
This is a shameless attempt to suppress votes. That’s why Women’s March has joined forces with other leading organizations to demand that all state governments enact Vote by Mail.
And our efforts are working, John. A new poll shows that nearly two-thirds of Americans – including a majority of independents and Democrats as well as 42% of Republicans – favor allowing all Americans to vote by mail ahead of the November election.1
Already, 11 of the 16 states that limit who can vote absentee have eased their election rules this spring to let anyone cast an absentee ballot in upcoming primary elections — and in some cases, in November as well.2 But we can’t let up until every state allows Vote by Mail in November.

Without any factual basis, Trump has routinely spread lies on Twitter and in interviews that Vote by Mail will lead to “election theft” and corruption. We know that’s not true – and we refuse to let him use this pandemic to impede our democracy.
If we want to make sure every American can safely cast their ballot this November, we must show overwhelming support for Vote by Mail. Only then will our state leaders will take action to pass measures and begin making preparations now.
