In every town, there is someone struggling to survive and someone fighting the power, but we rarely hear their stories. While political campaigns spend millions on glitzy, vague ads, our volunteers have been right there when families’ lights get cut off, and when students and workers go on strike. With our creative skills, we can expose the real villains and hype up our heroes across the country.
How can a selfie video or yellow protest sign persuade thousands to join a movement? It’s not magic, it’s a level of craft and passionate attention to detail. Research shows that politicians take movements that look coordinated and disciplined more seriously.
Growing up in poverty, creativity was always my escape. My storytelling became a superpower I could use to organize people, and even get jobs. I hope Sunrise Creative School will empower new leaders to join our community of visionaries.
