WorkWorkIf You Want Your Team to Use Gen AI, Focus on Trust - Harvard Business Review (No paywall) Many companies have been quick to provide new gen AI tools to their staff, but with varying take up among employees. Researchers at Deloitte hypothesized that a driving reason workers werent using these tools and companies werent seeing strong ROI was because employees lacked trust in the technology. After launching the initiative with a test group of 750 Deloitte consultants, the researchers saw a 49% rise in perceptions of the tools reliability, a 52% increase in beliefs about its transparency, a 14% increase in new users and a 65% increase in the average number of visits per user.

WorkWorkThe Rachel Reeves theory of growth - The Economist (No paywall) SPEAK TO the worlds financiers assembled at Davos this week, and Britain rarely comes up. When it does, the mood is hardly complimentary. One banker remarks on how many millionaires have recently left the country. Another financial executive says that Brexit has shrunk the investor base. Others raise a comment by Ray Dalio, a billionaire, who warned on January 21st of a debt death spiral in Britain if public spending is not reined in.

WorkInvestors bet Trump will make Europe investable again - WSJ (No paywall) The continents elites gathered in Davos were united that everything is awful, after years of insisting that all was well. The combination of President Trumps tariff threats, the excitement in the U.S. about deregulation and years of stagnant growth have pushed Europes leaders to the realization that perhaps, just perhaps, tying up the regions businesses in red tape is a bad idea. WorkThe Big Tech Takeover of American Politics - The New Yorker (No paywall) In normal times, Inaugurations are gossipy affairs where the worst, and perhaps most fun, impulses of the political media get put on full display. We comment on hats worn by, say, Aretha Franklin or Ivanka Trump, and who has aged well or terribly in the past four years, and whose spouse looks bored. We read body language, interpret eye rolls, scan the lists of invitees to the various balls and parties for clues into who might hold influence on the incoming President. Compared with Donald Trumps first Inauguration, which was covered gravely and with zero humor, his second, on Monday, seemed like business as usual. Among the guests, Shou Zi Chew, the C.E.O. of TikTok, drew notable attention after the platforms temporary blackout over the weekend. He, along with Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook, Sundar Pichai, and, of course, Elon Musk, were seated behind the Trump family during the ceremony, a powerful image that suggested Silicon Valleywhich had previously been either politically agnostic, economically libertarian (but also culturally progressive), or slightly left-leaninghad switched their allegiances and would be instrumental in Trumps golden age of America. The next time you take a doomscrolling break to go touch said grass, you can take the opportunity to help scientists conduct planet-saving research.
